Beyond refusing any business with companies demanding I use a dongle, I no longer do business those that employ eLicenser.

#T RACKS CS SERIAL NUMBER#

I don't object to licensing that requires only the entering of a serial number to activate once and for all and then DONE! But I no longer accept any other dodgy requirements. I want to know all of an installed software's resources and behavior up front and not later when I may be in the middle of some important project. If any try to place or hide files in AppData or anywhere else, I review it completely. I carefully check the baggage that installed plugins might try to bring with them.

I never allow any software to 'phone home' anymore my recording PC does not connect to the internet. Sometime ago I stopped using all software that is connected to any sort of licensing, service center, 'custom shops', or the like that require an active internet connection while using them or at any time on the PC I use for recording I agree with the idea of running everything under 'administrator' before trying anything else.Īside from that, I can only offer my own fix for problems of this nature. I use Windows 8, and I have found random installers that don't work unless I do this, even though my IK stuff is currently working.

I was suggesting that you try to install these using the compatibility settings, especially if they are not working properly now. There is nothing "wrong" with using the defaults, but my opinion is that doing so will leave more options for trouble when changes to the OS occur. Are your plugins installed in the default locations, normally somewhere on your OS hard-drive? I always install to customized dedicated locations, on a different hard-drive in fact. It doesn't even need to be a change in anything related to Reaper or audio any change can cause weirdness down the line, these are computers after all. I think what Darkstar is getting at, and what i would also start to question, is the idea that maybe some change in your system overall is the cause of this.

I think I have installed the acrobat PDF reader and windows installed some updates in this time. It is indeed really strange I don't know it exactly because I havent used these plugins for 4 weeks (in January, I have used them at least), than, last week, I open an "old" project and Reaper crashes the first time ever. I am do this as "normal" user, not as administrator and without any compatibility settings.
